WASHINGTON, D.C. (September 2) – Kilpatrick Stockton announced today that Lindsay Tingley has been appointed to serve on the Board of Directors of the New York Avenue Foundation (NYAF). NYAF is a non-profit charitable foundation that works to advance educational opportunities for youth in need throughout the Washington, D.C. area. NYAF’s mission is to assist young people to complete schooling in the District of Columbia public schools and to go on to additional education.
Board members are responsible for executing NYAF's mission and for serving as ambassador's for its mission to the community. Their duties include reviewing grant applications from potential grantees, making site visits to potential and current grantees, and meeting with grantees. The directors as a group generally come to a consensus on the grant applications that will be approved or declined and decide on the amount of each grant. NYAF is affiliated with the New York Avenue Presbyterian Church and the Board nominates and elects candidates, who must also be approved by the Church's Board of Deacons.
Ms. Tingley focuses her practice on corporate, securities, and regulatory matters, including mergers and acquisitions, public and private securities offerings, Securities and Exchange Commission reporting compliance, and corporate governance.
While in law school, Ms. Tingley received the North Carolina Academy of Trial Lawyers Book Award for "Most Outstanding Advocate" in Trial Practice and was also a Public Interest Law Organization Grant Recipient.
